The CheyTac Intervention sniper, a beloved weapon among fans, will make a comeback in the upcoming Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. This bolt-action sniper rifle has made appearances in various past versions of the game, including Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty Online.
The Intervention rifle was also one of the most beloved weapons from the 2009’s Modern Warfare 2 game. The primary distinction of this sniper is its damage and slick handling. It has the most one-shot kill area of any sniper rifle in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer, and it handles very well for those who use the quick drop/raise secondary weapons.
Once, the Intervention sniper even influenced a subculture of Call of Duty players. It was so popular that several content creators used the rifle specifically to record montages, trick shots, quick scopes, 360 no scopes and more.
Returning with new name and look
On April 4, the official Call of Duty Twitter account shared a 35-second Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 gameplay video of streamer FaZe Dirty testing out the revamped Intervention sniper.
“We invited @FaZeDirty for a surprise Season 03 playtest. What he didn’t know was an old friend would be joining him. The FJX Imperium Sniper drops with Season 03 on April 12,” the tweet read.

Though now renamed the FJX Imperium, the weapon retains some characteristics that made the sniper rifle recognizable in previous game versions. Additionally, the improvements done to the sniper are expected to help the weapon keep up with newer gameplay mechanics.
FaZe tested the FJX Imperium in the brand-new Pelayo’s Lighthouse 6v6 map, which will debut in Modern Warfare 2 Season 3. Although he initially had no idea why Infinity Ward had contacted him for the playtest, he quickly understood when he saw the revamped sniper rifle in the game loadout.
“It’s incredible, the FJX Imperium. It’s like new and nostalgia together. The way it zooms in and feels pretty fantastic,” FaZe said. “It’s going to be a hit with you guys. Be prepared.”
To determine whether the FJX Imperium stands up to the history of Intervention, Call of Duty players will ultimately need to put it to the test once Season 3 starts. If balance problems or flaws appear during the new season, the weapon will undergo changes in upcoming updates for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.
More updates for Season 3
Players will soon be able to level up to earn a variety of new goodies in Season 3, which will feature a new Battle Pass — and with it, the newly awaited weapon.
Season 3 of Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will include new multiplayer maps specifically designed to reintroduce the Gun Fight mode and a remake of the popular Estate map from Modern Warfare 2. Additionally, Warzone 2 will see the return of the Plunder mode, which challenges players to collect as much cash as possible while allowing for infinite respawns.
Finally, a ranked mode for Warzone, which the community has highly requested, will come to Season 3, which premiere on April 12. While details on this mode are scarce, these updates promise to offer players even more intense action and diverse gameplay options.
