In a March announcement, the Xbox Game Pass revealed the newest lineup of games for its April 2023 collection.
Xbox Game Pass has been a popular feature of the console series, known for providing gamers with new and different gaming experiences at a bargain. By paying only $10 a month, Game Pass subscribers can access numerous games in the Xbox library. Some games are notably exclusive to the console, while others are adapted versions of old Xbox 360 titles.
Since its inception, the Game Pass has regularly added new games to its catalog every two months. Its previous lineup in February included a variety of indie and triple-A titles, such as the turn-based RPG hit Darkest Dungeon and the robotic extravaganza Atomic Heart.
Notable games in April 2023 Game Pass
The Xbox Game Pass has always had a soft spot for indie titles, which is also evident in April’s Game Pass lineup. The platform features several indie games with unique and striking styles along with major titles from established developers.
In its upcoming April 2023 collection, the Game Pass will continue to bring its trademark variety, bringing in Lovecraft-inspired platformer The Last Case of Benedict Fox, the acclaimed Everspace 2, Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus and Butterfly, Homestead Arcana, Minecraft Legends and Ghostwire: Tokyo.
The Last Case of Benedict Fox will release in April after many months of anticipation from the indie scene. The game’s Lovecraftian and macabre backdrop compliments its stylistic appeal, though its Metroidvania gameplay is what draws the most attention to the title. Game Pass subscribers can play the game on April 27, shortly after its PC release on Steam.
Coffee Talk Episode 2: Hibiscus and Butterfly is the highly-anticipated sequel to Toge Productions’ first Coffee Talk title. The game invites players to brush up on their barista skills, brewing coffee and talking to a set of mysterious and supernatural strangers. Game Pass subscribers can access the game on April 20.
Among the bigger titles in this month’s Game Pass, few stand a chance against the hype surrounding Ghostwire: Tokyo. Developed by Tango Works and published by Bethesda Softworks, the game is set in the lavish and neon background of Tokyo, where players can use elemental powers to uncover the game’s mysteries. Its luscious graphics, fast-paced combat and stunning character design have turned heads all across the gaming sphere, making it a welcome addition to the Game Pass on April 12.
With that being said, the anticipation surrounding Minecraft Legends is also palpable. The game is set to release on April 27 in the Game Pass, though it has been a long-awaited spinoff to the smash-hit Minecraft franchise. Minecraft Legends promises players a new way to play pixel-block adventures, with a deeper focus on action and strategy in a more straightforward heroic tale.
Other notable games confirmed for release include Everspace 2 on April 6. The spaceship shooter features intriguing roleplaying elements alongside common survival mechanics like mining, looting and crafting. The game was released on PC back in January 2021, but Game Pass subscribers can soon rediscover its vivid sci-fi open world and compelling narrative.
While those games will release in the April lineup, the complete collection is yet to be seen. Some details are also tentative, including the release date of Homestead Arcana.
Game Pass subscribers expect more coming soon, with some suggesting that major titles like Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, Dead Island 2 and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla may finally be coming to the lineup.
