Hogwarts Legacy holds the number one spot in U.K. physical sales charts for the fifth consecutive week.
The game remains unbeatable with its position unchanged and continues to sell most of its boxed copies on PS5 — accounting for 83 percent of sales. It is expected to stay in the top 10 for the foreseeable future, despite the likelihood of a new release eventually surpassing it.
The Last Of Us Part 1 was the closest contender for a new entry, having been released for PC on March 3 and re-entering the charts at number 27.
Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty experienced a significant drop in sales, falling from eighth place last week to 33rd this week. An analyst explained that while it’s not exactly a surprise for game sales to slow down after the initial hype, that’s still quite a significant drop.
Meanwhile, FIFA 23 maintains its position in second place, and God of War Ragnarok remains steady in fifth place. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has moved down to eighth place, and Grand Theft Auto V has risen from 10th to sixth place, driven mainly by sales of the PS5 version.
Gamers also eagerly await WWE 2K23’s release this Friday, expecting it to dethrone Hogwarts Legacy. In addition, Resident Evil 4, to be released in the following week, will likely be the highest-selling new game of the month.

Potential Hogwarts Legacy sequel
Chief financial officer (CFO) of Warner Bros. Discovery, Gunnar Wiedenfels, recently hinted at the possibility of a sequel or DLC for Hogwarts Legacy.
Earlier this year, Avalanche Software — the developer of Hogwarts Legacy — said that it had no plans for DLC. However, Wiedenfels asserted that Warner Bros is “only just starting to expand” on the franchise.
In Morgan Stanley’s investor conference panel, the CFO highlighted the company’s interest in developing future Harry Potter games. Given the tremendous success of Hogwarts Legacy, the game developer may reconsider its stance on DLC.
“Take ‘Harry Potter’ as an example, the Wizarding World, the fact that we are enjoying this massive success with the ‘Hogwarts Legacy’ launch, 12 years after the last film came out, shows that there is so much opportunity and we’re only just starting to expand that,” Wiedenfels said.
David Haddad, president of Warner Bros. Games, also said in late February that the company was pleased with the game’s initial launch. He also voiced his optimism that the game would thrive in the future.
“We are so thrilled and proud to see the player response to Hogwarts Legacy from gamers, fans who are new to gaming and reviewers around the world,” Haddad said.
“Our development team at Avalanche delivered an amazing, high-quality Wizarding World experience that truly fulfills the fan fantasy of life at Hogwarts and our publishing teams have executed a globally impactful launch campaign.”
Meanwhile, Avalanche Software has confirmed that the game’s PS4 release has been delayed again and is now set for May 5. After that, the developer will focus on releasing the game on Xbox One and Switch before working on any major sequels or DLC content.
